About Us
From humble beginnings to a dream come true
Cuttin' it Close originally opened on Ashland Road in 1995. It began as a
dream for then 24 year old Tara Burkepile Flaherty. She hired her
first employee, 18 year old Kristina Sparks. As the years went by, more
employees joined her in her dream, causing the need for expansion to the
second floor. With the expansion came an expanded electric bill
(due in part to the age of the building ), and it became apparent it was
time to move. It proved to be a daunting task to find a suitable building and
remain in the same general area. Finally, we happened upon this old L & K
restaraunt. Fearful of losing clients due to changing our location so drastactly,
we trusted our faith and decided to go for it. Having been vacant for 12 years or so,
the building needed enormous amounts of work.
Thanks to the help of great employees and wonderful friends and family,
this once small dream has grown and blossomed.
We now have 25 employees and have tripled our clientelle from all over.
Now, a new chapter begins and a new owners dream is realized.
Rebecca Hacker Harris became owner in July of 2008
after being self-employed at Cuttin' it Close for 6 years.
Without the time, effort, and sacrifice of the girls, and all of those who work
behind the scenes, this dream would still be a dream. Thank you.
We would like to especially thank you, our loyal clients, who have stuck with
us through our changes and growth.
We are grateful for each and everyone of you for making this dream a reality.
